Home Repair and Firewood Ministry for Transylvania, Southern Jackson, and Western Henderson Counties

STEP WNC is not currently doing in-person interviews, in-home inspections or in-home repairs at this time because of the COVID-19 Delta variant infection numbers rising in Transylvania County.

STEP Western North Carolina is ready to receive nominations for our services in Home Repair and/or our Firewood Ministries. Wait times are longer because of the pandemic. We appreciate your patience and flexibility!

Did you know?

STEP WNC is an all-volunteer organization that has several people involved who have many years of experience in carpentry and general repairs. We won't say they're old, but they've certainly been around a while...

ALL STEP WNC repairs are completed with the intent for the work to last many years. We only purchase high-quality materials and do the work at a near-professional level. We've done this a time or two!

ALL STEP WNC repairs, decks, stairs, accessibility ramps, etc. meet ALL safety requirements for the Client's county of residence. In fact, we've become good friends with the county inspectors because they like and respect the work we do. #GoSTEPWNC

All STEP WNC clients go through a rigorous process for qualification once they've been nominated to receive our services. Client projects are evaluated based on the homeowner's income, age and disability status.

STEP WNC works closely with the amazing people at Sharing House to help lift burdens and meet the needs of our clients. We regularly fills the woodbins at the Sharing House in Brevard with split wood for emergency situations.

The STEP WNC woodlot at Amazing Grace Farms in Pisgah Forest is FULL OF WOOD because we've had some generous donors! We'll let the community know when we are ready to accept donations again.
